During the month of October, the Special Needs Athletes Program of Alabama (SNAP) will be all over the city of Mobile connecting with the community. SNAP will have an informational table set up at The Buddy Walk, the Down Syndrome Awareness Month Halloween Bash, and the Mob-Tober Fest. More information and details about these events can be found on our website, snapofalabama.org. Being part of the community is essential to those with special needs. Often, those with special needs are considered different, but in reality, they are just like you and me. Communicating and congregating does wonders, and before you know it, you will have created a friendship with a bond that is unbreakable.

This can have a negative effect because those with special needs thrive off of being social and being engaged in the community. Also, research on past pandemics shows that those with special needs have a hard time obtaining the medications and medical supplies that are critical to their health.
